Beer At The Fountain – Cooper’s Parachute

Beer At The Fountain is a weekly series that showcases some of our favorite craft beers, past, present, and future. Most, if not all, of the beers covered will be available at the Chicago Ale Fest.

The Chicago Ale Fest is a celebration of American Craft Beer at Buckingham Fountain. Whether you’re a craft beer aficionado or new to craft beer, the Chicago Ale Fest has something for everyone.

Looks like something just dropped in to save the lazy day at the fountain: Urban Legend’s Cooper’s Parachute. This beer starts out with what you would expect from a West Coast Style IPA; amber coloration, a notable nose of citrus, and a bitter yet clean finish. With aromas that hint at clover and damp barely, the beer starts to reveal itself as anything but ordinary. As you tip the glass for the first sip, your palate explodes with complex flavor, bitter citrus hops mellowed out by a subtle malt backbone; the scent of clover fades away into the taste of a honey crisp apple and hints of smoked birch wood. Cooper’s Parachute is an easy drinking beer that leaves you wanting one sip after another, yet each time you end up looking at the glass in disbelief.
